Barr Freedom Bassey
Barr Freedom Richard Bassey was born on the 15th day of November 1995. In Ofumbongha No. 4, Obubra Local Government Area in Cross River State Nigeria.
he attended St. Francis primary school Obubra, after which, he proceeded to Excellence Secondary school between 2003 to 2009, thereafter, his uncanny intelligence and unquantifiable admiration for law, a childhood obsession, took him to the far-framed and one of the most respected universities in Nigeria (University of Jos) where he gained admissions to study law between 2010 to 2015. he backed his Bachelor of Law (L.L.B) and was also certified worthy in learning and in character. During his studies in Unijos, although a teenager then, Barr Freedom, held several leadership positions and also contested for the office of the Secretary-General Student’s Union Government, University of Jos.
After he graduated in 2015, he proceeded to the Nigerian Law School where he again graduated with a second class and obtained barrister-at-law (B.L.) between 2015 to 2016 and was immediately admitted into the Nigeria Barr in November 2016. During his studies, at Law school, he was elected into the Student’s Representatives Council, the highest student body in the Nigerian Law School and was also appointed as a coordinator of the Christian Lawyers fellowship of Nigeria on his campus. He was immediately mobilized to kano state Nigeria to serve his country under the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme in 2016/2017. After the three weeks orientation camp, he was posted to the Legal Aid Council of Nigeria Kano state where he served as an interim leader of all the corper lawyer’s in the state and later as their secretary general.
At the end of his services, he was given several awards including The Legal Aid council NYSC man of the year award. His exploits at the legal Aid council as a corper lawyer, earned him a position of a legal counsel in one of the top-tier law firms in Nigeria being Dikko & Mahmoud Solicitors and advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria were he practices law until he was appointed a Magistrate in cross River State Judiciary.
Barr Freedom is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, an Ambassador of Cypa Africa(NGO) and a member of the Magistrate Association of Nigeria, he is a certified professional human Resources person, a Certified professional projects manager, and has attended several workshops and training including the recent one at National Judicial Institute. he is humble, intelligent, full of compassion for his fellow human with an uncanny clear curt ambition for the future.
