Nonso Ndumanya
Special Assistant to Governor Chukwu Charles Soludo on Strategy Execution & Evaluation (SEE)
Nonso Ndumanya currently holds the position of Special Assistant to Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo on Strategy, Execution, and Evaluation in Anambra State. In this role, he collaborates with the Strategy, Execution, and Evaluation (SEE) Office team to ensure effective monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of the state’s key programs and projects. Nonso receives support from analysts at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) to accomplish this task.
One of Nonso’s notable achievements since assuming office is the development of execution plans for State MDAs (Ministries, Departments, and Agencies) within the Social Agenda Cluster. He has successfully created strategic initiatives for various ministries, including Education, Health, Women, and Youth, to facilitate their successful implementation.
From April 2018 to March 2022, Nonso served as an Executive Assistant to former Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State. In this capacity, he contributed to the delivery team responsible for developing, implementing, monitoring, and reviewing the strategic development plans and programs of the state. Nonso played a vital role in research and policy formulation during this period.
Starting in January 2017, Nonso began his public service career as a Technical Assistant on Research and Strategy to the former State Commissioner for Economic Planning, Budget, and Development Partners. He was also part of the State Ease of Doing Business team that played a significant role in positioning Anambra State as one of the top five states showing significant progress in global good practices, according to the 2018 World Bank Subnational Doing Business in Nigeria Index.
Between January and March 2022, Nonso served as the Technical Assistant on Research for the Anambra State 2022 Transition Committee Economic Transformation Sub-task Team, chaired by Dr. Alex Otti, who is now the Governor-Elect of Abia State.
Prior to his public service roles, Nonso held various positions in media and business. He served as the pioneer Managing Editor at Stears Business, worked as an Editorial Analyst at BusinessDay Newspapers covering SMEs and the real sector, and coordinated Short Entrepreneurial Courses at FATE Foundation. Nonso started his career as an intern in the MBA Department of the Lagos Business School over a decade ago.
Nonso holds an Executive Education certification in Public Policy from Strathmore Business School in Nairobi, Kenya. He also possesses a master’s degree in Economics and Finance from the University of Glasgow, Scotland, as well as a BSc degree in Estate Management (Land Economics) from Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Anambra State, where he ranked among the top five best-graduating students. In 2021, Nonso became a fellow of the School of Politics, Policy, and Governance (SPPG) Public Leadership and Policy Programme, led by Dr. Obiageli Ezekwesili. In April 2023, he was invited to join the Research and Think Tank Team of the Dr. Alex Otti Governorship Transition Council.
Nonso’s primary areas of interest revolve around development economics, evidence-based policy research, monitoring and evaluation (M&E), and institutional reform.
