Okechukwu Obasi

Okechukwu Collins Obasi is an emerging leader and a scholar. His professional background spans through the development sector, research and politics. He served in the programme department of the Africa Youth Growth Foundation where he initiated projects that expanded the frontiers of youth engagements in democratic governance and sustainable development.
He has led the National PDP Professional and Business Group, an accredited and responsive group within the Peoples Democratic Party as Programme Officer to redefine the voice of corporate bodies, professionals, academia, business entities and entrepreneurs within the political space and contribute value to the party mandate.
Presently, he serves as a research analyst in the Security and Intelligence Policy Lab of the Africa Center for Strategy & Policy, a Washington DC-based think tank where his role encompasses a range of critical responsibilities including conducting in-depth research into various dimensions of regional conflicts and international crises in Africa with emphasis on preventive security measures, aiming to halt the escalation of conflicts into violence and war through meticulous intelligence analysis in the West Africa and Sahel Region.
Drawing on research and intelligence analysis, he contributes to crafting security and intelligence policies aimed at guiding policy makers towards informed decision-making that is data-driven in security governance with emphasis on African-centric security solutions.
Okechukwu is a strong believer in the nexus between transformational policy making and shared prosperity which to him only leadership can provide. Thus, he sees the Emerging Political Leaders Fellowship Programme as a leadership recruitment platform to learn how to navigate through the challenges and opportunities of public sector leadership in Nigeria. Okechukwu is a Fellow of the Legislative Mentorship Initiative of the Office of the Speaker
of the 9th House of Representatives of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and presently a Fellow-in-Training of the Platform Public Service Fellowship of the Covenant Nation.
