Dr. Udy Akpan (PhD) is a seasoned Development Practitioner with over 20 years of experience in fostering citizen participation, accountability in governance, policy advocacy, and advancing women’s rights and youth development in Africa.

Her academic credentials include a PhD in ICT for Sustainable Community Development from the University of London and an M.Sc. in Management Information Systems from the London School of Economics, University of London.

In 2002, Dr. Akpan co-founded Youth Alive Foundation in Nigeria, a youth-focused NGO aimed at redefining the role of Nigerian youths in governance and development processes. She currently serves as the Executive Director.

Dr. Akpan is a member of several prestigious organizations, including:

– Multinational Working Group (MWG) in the Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa (CODESRIA)

– ICT4D Collective at Royal Holloway, University of London (UNESCO Chair in ICT4D)

– Professional Member, British Computer Society

– Associate Member, Higher Education Academy, UK

– Member, Association of Project Management, UK

With extensive experience in research, project management, training, and consulting, Dr. Akpan has worked on projects funded by international development agencies such as the World Bank, USAID, UK Aid, Ford Foundation, and the European Union. Her work has significantly impacted the lives of women and youths in Nigeria.
