A Civic Engagement Activity by Lubem Aboh an EPLF Fellow
In fulfillment of the Fellowship’s requirements, Lubem implemented his Civic Engagement Activity, by organizing a Radio and TV Sensitization programme to discuss the topic “Youth Involvement in Policy Implementation for Effective Governance.”
The sole aims of this activity were to strengthen organized youth participation in policy-making and governance, to orientate young people on basic policy concepts and activities and how they can get involved strategically, and to stimulate the motivation of younger people hoping to lead.
He facilitated discussions around the African Youth Charter and the Status of the Youth Report. I emphasized the need for leaders to begin to own up to the responsibilities prescribed to the Member States for the development of the African youth.
During this session, it was deduced that effective awareness amongst the diverse category of youths was basically the foundational achievement of the day. We also exposed opportunities for self-development and growth. Through this initiative also, we hope to experience reduced Political conflicts among young people and set the stage for a renewed Political environment of tolerance and objectivity within our communities.
One key aspect of youth Involvement in policy implementation for effective governance is creating awareness of the responsibilities of youth. Through a pool of volunteers, as he shall use the train-the-trainer method to mobilize value-reorientation programs for young people to facilitate rapid impact.
