A Civic Engagement Activity by Baba Abdullahi Machina, EPLF Fellow
Baba Machina implemented his Civic Engagement Activity in Gwange Government Secondary schools in Maiduguri, Borno State.
The sole purpose of this activity was to train the student on leadership skills, share experience in leadership strategy, and teach the Students concepts of Emotional Intelligence
During the step-down training, 200 Students were assembled in a single class including some of the Management of the School where I discussed the concept of leadership, emotional intelligence, and community organizing for Action among other leadership skills that I was taught during the EPLF Virtual learning sessions on various aspects of political leadership. The Students were able to learn the key concepts of leadership and learnt about Emotional Intelligence which is a key component of leadership
He garnered that the Students understood the basic leadership skills required in the early stage of their academic ladder, and most of the students are interested in learning more about leadership, so I am willing to provide training such as this going forward.
As a way of following up, he will pay the School regular visits, facilitate essential concepts of leadership, and share experiences with Students which is beneficial to the development of their communities, schools, and the world at large.
