A Civic Engagement Activity by Kada Ngbale an EPLF Fellow
In fulfillment of his Civic Engagement Activity, Kada Ngbale an EPLF Fellow organized a Radio Programme to sensitize citizens on their rights, responsibilities, and privileges, with the aim of strengthening democratic participation and the exercise of civic duty by citizens in Adamawa State and across Nigeria.
There were 3 panelists on the radio programme, but in view of participation, the programme is widely listened to across the North East. The composition of my co-discussants on the programme was strategic, and I was able to crowd-source using my Facebook network of friends.
Outcomes
Nigerians are enlightened about diverse issues pertaining to governance and those in positions of leadership must listen, and partnerships are critical to reversing lost gains and building the nation we all so desire as citizens. The radio programme did garner vital information from the panelists and was measured by the enriching contributions of listeners who called in to share their opinions and views.
Next Steps
As an important aspect of leading and creating public value, I hope to continue this relationship with the radio station, and I will explore the possibility of sensitizing more Nigerians through this medium and further collaborating with the radio station. While my experience as a fellow will introduce many collaborations in my community, I believe the strengthening of relationships will be valuable.
I will further write a blog post or an opinion piece about my experience for publication. This documentation will aid others in coming behind on how best to enjoy their experience as a fellow while also offering Nigerians increased knowledge and spurring many to be active citizens.
