A Civic Engagement Activity by Joseph Effiong an EPLF fellow
In a bid to fulfill his Civic Engagement Activity, he engaged Students of the College of Education Afaha Nsit, Akwa-Ibom State on a “Sensitization on Issue-Based Campaign and 2023 Elections.”
The sole purpose of this activity was to identify the imperatives of an issued-based campaign against character assassination, curtail violence during elections, and contribute to a decent democracy.
Outcomes
The session revealed that issue-based campaigns seek to dig into the campaign blueprint of every candidate, and by this, the participants were informed that “the internet never forgets.”
Next Steps
As a way forward, in my own might, I will keep on sensitizing more students to the need to get involved in the political processes of our nation, and also on the need to respect divergent views and trade words with objectivity by focusing on issues and not personalities.
