CEO of Ray of Hope Foundation/ Volunteer with the Citizens Assembly under the Office of the Special Adviser to the President on Community Engagement, North Central

Rayan Abi Azi holds a BSc in Criminology and Security Studies and an MSc in Conflict Management and Peace Studies from the University of Jos. She is the CEO of Ray of Hope Foundation, a girl-child organization with a vision and mission to help the girl child attain education. She is also the CEO of Rhay Multipurpose Store, a thriving business in fashion and home appliances.

As a Youth Parliamentarian, she represented her constituency in the Nigeria Youth Parliament from 2021-2024 and held the position of Chairperson of the Committee on Education. She works and collaborates with NGOs and Ministries on the Plateau, such as the Ministry for Youth and Sport, to carry out youthful engagement for a better Plateau, and the Ministry for Women Affairs, to ensure that women are recognized and explore their potentials in terms of empowerment and skills acquisition.

Currently, she is a volunteer with the Citizens Assembly under the Office of the Special Adviser to the President on Community Engagement, North Central. This opportunity has helped ensure that communities are closer to the government by addressing community-led issues, which has been a progress for her local government.

Participating in the fellowship will enable her to acquire new insights and deepen her understanding of governance and leadership, in addition to networking with like-minded individuals. She is confident that the fellowship will expand her knowledge, thereby equipping her to drive positive change in her community. Her background in politics and grassroots engagement, combined with her passion for politics, make her a strong candidate for the Emerging Political Leaders Fellowship Program.

She is eager to utilize her leadership skills in the field of politics, where she believes innovative thinking and leadership skills are crucial for driving positive change in Plateau, Nigeria, and beyond.
