Segun Oyewale

Youth Mobilization Strategist & Community Organizer

Segun Oyewale is a dedicated youth mobilization strategist and seasoned community organizer with a strong background in civic engagement, grassroots leadership, and digital advocacy. His professional journey has been shaped by years of passionate service, mobilizing young people across Nigeria towards active citizenship, good governance, and policy advocacy. With a foundation in computer science and hands-on experience in civic tech and social organizing, he is driven by a mission to empower youth as agents of transformation in democratic spaces.

In his current role as the Special Assistant to the Osun State Governor on Youth Mobilization, he plays a pivotal role in bridging the gap between young people and the government. He coordinates statewide youth engagements, policy dialogues, and empowerment programmes that amplify youth voices in governance. As convener of the Osun Youth Conference and team lead of the Young Advocates for Better Tomorrow Initiative, he has led several campaigns that promote political inclusion, digital literacy, and youth-led development.

He is also an alumnus of the YIAGA AFRICA Community Organizing Institute, which further sharpened his skills in movement building and strategic advocacy. He believes that his experience in grassroots mobilization, policy influence, and community organizing makes him an ideal fit for the Emerging Political Leaders Fellowship Programme.

He is excited to bring his expertise in youth leadership and his proven record of results-oriented activism into a broader political framework that supports inclusive governance. He is particularly interested in learning from other visionary leaders, strengthening his understanding of public policy, and advancing innovative solutions to Nigeria’s democratic challenges.

Participating in the Fellowship will allow him to deepen his understanding of political structures, legislative processes, and the nuances of effective governance. It will also expose him to a diverse network of leaders and changemakers across Africa. He is confident that this opportunity will enhance his leadership journey, strengthen his ability to influence sustainable policies, and position him to play a more strategic role in shaping a progressive and inclusive Nigeria.
